EMF Study
(Database last updated on Mar 6, 2021)

ID Number 839
Study Type Human / Provocation
Model 1.765 GHz (CDMA) exposure to humans and analysis of EEG recordings

Human subjects (n=16) were assigned to 3 groups: non-users (n=4), long-term cell phone users (more than 5 years of use, n=6), and short-term cell phone users (less than 2 years of use, n=6). Each subject was exposed to cell phone emissions for 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute non-exposure period. Throughout the 40 minute experimental period EEG was recorded. No significant differences were observed.

The number of individuals (4, 6, and 6,) in the respective experimental groups is quite small, and strong statistical inferences of the data are not possible. Further, the stratification into short-term and long-term user groups is not well defined (the number of years using a phone does not necessarily reflect on how often the phone was used over that period). More importantly, usage patterns and actual exposure levels cannot be defined from the description of the study.
