Model 53.3 GHz exposure to thylakoid membranes and analysis of photochemical activity

Thylakoid membranes from Pisium Sativum were isolated and exposed to 53.3 GHz mm waves for 15, 20, 30, or 40 minutes at 1.5 mW/cm2. MM wave exposure increased chlorophyll fluorescence, counteracted herbicide-reduction of delayed chlorophyll fluorescence, and led to increased surface electric charge density. The authors suggest this effect is due to a mm wave - induced increase in photochemical activity.
