Model 60 Hz ELF field measurements in homes near high voltage power lines and corresponding socioeconomic and minority status of residents
Details

Correlations between living in proximity to overhead high voltage power lines and socio-economic status. Almost all homes within 500 ft of the overhead lines had magnetic field that were above background, but few that were 2000 ft or farther showed any magnetic field elevation. The authors report, in contrast to conventional assumptions, that residents living within 2000 ft of overhead power lines actually had fewer minorities and the mean age and composition was very similar to that living 2000 ft or father away. Home values on average were lower within 2000 ft than homes farther than 200 ft away.
