Model Mobile phone use and social dependency in High School and University students
Details

High School and University students (n = 317 male + 421 female) in Thailand were surveyed regarding mobile phone use patterns. The authors conclude young adults are increasingly dependent upon mobile phone technology, and most responded that they sent more than 10 messages per day and felt difficulty in socializing with people that did not have a mobile phone. Dependency seemed to be highest with female vs male students and with University vs. high school students. In a similar study by Toda et al (2004), the authors used a similar questionnaire to survey Japanese female University students (n = 168) and also reported significant cell phone dependance (CPD).
