Model Analysis of mobile phone use in children in Hungary
Details

Children from 49 schools (aged 10-11 yrs, mainly girls) in Hungary were polled via questionairre regarding mobile phone use. The same questionairre developed by Bohler and Schuz was used in the present study. The authors report 76% of students owned a mobile phone and started using a mobile phone on average by age 6-7. 57% used their phone regularly (multiple times per week), with more girls than boys using their phone on a regular basis. Other factors linked to increased mobile phone use were being part of a sport club, being an only child, and playing computer games on a regular basis. Ownership by children in this study was 2x higher than that reported by Bohler and Schuz for German children (76% vs. 35%).
