Potato virus Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain B6 (virulent) were exposed to 10 GHz microwaves at a power density of 0.58 mW/cm2 for 30-120 minutes. The authors report a 30 to 60% decrease in virulence (ability to produce tumors on potato and turnip disks). Exposure did not affect viability, ability to attach to a tumor-binding site, and it did not induce thermal shock. The loss of virulence was reversible within 12 hours
