Model 2450 MHz (CW) exposure to erythrocytes and analysis of temperature thresholds for hemolysis

Human primary erythrocytes were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) RF sufficient to elevate temperature and analyzed for hemolysis. Temperatures between 50 and 55 degrees C were necessary for hemolysis of erythrocytes in whole blood, but a threshold of 37 degrees C caused hemolysis of erythrocytes in buffered saline. The authors report both effects were thermal in nature.
