ID Number 1102
Study Type Epidemiology
Model BASEXPO: 900, 1800 MHz (GSM) exposure to residents in Austria from base stations and correlation with health effects
Details

Feasibility study for future epidemiological studies and literature review on health effects of mobile phone base stations. The authors expect to compile a list of recommendations and specifications for epi-studies on base-stations as well as a cost analysis during initial pilot studies. The study also attempts to develop realistic dosimetric assays and harmonized procedures for assessing RF exposure and testing compliance of installed base stations. An expert workshop is also envisioned. The authors suggest that optimized methods are urgently needed to fulfill the requirements of the R&TTE directive of 1999 and for companies and other institutions performing exposure evaluations of the public exposed to the environment of base stations. The outcome from the project is planned to be used to help develop RF monitoring systems and account for statistical uncertainty in assessment. Start date January 2004, end data January 2006
